Context

One of Mydoh’s FY’23 business objectives is to increase monthly youth engagement on Mydoh platform.

The challenge

Previously, Mydoh’s product development followed a top-down feature-team structure with an annual feature-driven roadmap. However, three months in, our pod had to pivot due to budget constraints on a top-priority feature initially planned for the year.

The product manager and tech lead I worked with had limited experience in outcome-driven product discovery. This article highlights how I guided the team and facilitated a collaborative product discovery process to drive the target business outcome in a short time frame.

Impact

1️⃣

Launched high-impact features ideated and validated through product discovery

2️⃣

Established a repeatable product discovery framework

Building on the success of this framework, we adopted it for organization-wide annual product roadmap ideation for FY’24.

My approach in a nutshell: Opportunity-Solution Tree

Inspired by Teresa Torres’ Opportunity-Solution Tree framework, I adopted this approach, coached the product trio (product lead, design lead—my role, and tech lead), and led our product discovery process.
